How a guest books
Guests don't need an account. They open the space's booking page and go from there.
The page asks for a date, then a time, then who's coming: how many people, name, email and phone (optional). The number of people starts at 1. If the space has a capacity and the guest enters more, the page says "This space holds" that many "people." If the space charges for people over an included number, the price shows the extra people at that amount each.
A collapsed section has an optional discount code and a weekly repeat. Weeks start at 4 and can be set from 1 to 26. The guest picks pay each date or pay up front. Any week that's closed, outside the hours or already taken is skipped. If none of the weeks can be booked, nothing is held.
If the space has extras, they show as checkboxes. An extra with a quantity asks for a number up to that extra's maximum. A space can have up to twelve extras.
The button says "Hold this time," or "Request this time" when the space approves each request. Until a time is picked, the button stays off and the page says "Pick a time to see the price."
Below the price, the page shows that space's cancellation rule. It also says you pay the host for this space, not Space on Hold, and the deposit goes to the host. A damage hold, when the space asks for one, is a card authorization for possible damage. It isn't the deposit, and it doesn't confirm the booking. The host sets the price, deposit, hold, cancellation policy and house rules shown there. Space on Hold provides the booking software and is not a party to the rental. Questions about a refund or a hold go to the host.
If the space approves each request, the page says sending the request holds the time while the host decides, you won't be charged unless they approve, and no account is needed. Otherwise, it says holding the time keeps it in your name, the next page shows the deposit and any file the space asks for, and the time is confirmed once both are in. No account is needed.
The next page is the guest link for that booking. There the guest agrees to the guest terms, pays the deposit if one is due, and uploads a certificate or signs the house rules if the space requires them. Card checkout holds the time for 30 minutes. A request waiting for approval holds for the length set on How long a request holds.
